Why is Paul Bunyan Communications discontinuing PBTV (Paul Bunyan Television) services?

Since we introduced PBTV in 2001, the way people watch television has changed dramatically. Rising programming costs, the rapid growth of streaming services, and the significant investment needed to replace our aging television technology have made it no longer sustainable to continue offering PBTV.

What has changed to cause this?

Over the last decade, the fees we pay TV networks to carry their programming have risen sharply. Consolidation among major media companies has also left smaller providers like Paul Bunyan Communications with limited negotiating leverage over the cost of popular programming.

Will I lose local TV channels like Local Weather, Lakeland, KVLY or WCCO?

Most of those TV channels are available through their own apps or as part of other streaming services.

What do I do with my current equipment?

You can keep your current equipment, recycle it yourself, or return it to the Bemidji or Grand Rapids offices for recycling.
