Business IT Technician - Bemidji Office (Tier 1 Data Service Representative)

We are looking to hire people that are kind, friendly and who have a troubleshooting mindset.

If you are the kind of person that enjoys solving a problem and can so while being good-natured, we would like to meet you.

What would I be doing at Paul Bunyan Communications?

You will be opening tickets when customers call or email us.  You will work to resolve IT issues and escalate tickets when appropriate.

You will be monitoring escalated tickets and communicating with customers when issues are resolved.

Most of your time will be spent diagnosing and resolving software, server and networking issues for our local business customers.  Most of our customers use Windows computers but there are some macs out there too.

You will provide tech help to our local business customers via email, phone or in person.

A typical day varies widely, but an example may include helping one customer with printer issues, going onsite to replace a failing hard drive in a server for another customer, adding SSIDs for another customer, adding new Microsoft 365 mailboxes for another customer and adding new employees to a domain controller for another customer.

What is great about this career?

This is your chance to work for a co-op where helping people is of the primary importance.  We are a communications cooperative where helping members is our motivation.  We truly exist to help our staff and our members thrive.

Sometimes, you will get to be the hero.  You will be solving problems before our clients know that they are having an issue.   In the event of an unexpected issue, you will be saving the day by helping getting them back up and running.

You will make lifelong connections in our business community.  You will become vital to how they continue to do business.

You will have coworkers that are always willing to help if you run into something that you need help with.

Your skillset will grow dramatically.  You will be exposed to a lot of different equipment and environments.

What we are looking for:

Someone with experience with Windows, Windows Server, Networking, Firewall, VPN and setting up and managing Microsoft 365.

We want someone with experience providing excellent customer service.

Extra points for:

Any IT related certifications. A+, Network+, Google IT Support Certificate, etc.

Being passionate about something. We love hiring people that get excited about what they do away from work.

Why would you want to work here?

You will work for one of most technologically progressive telco/internet service providers in Minnesota. For instance, we offer residential and business members of our co-op speeds of up to 10gb.

We offer competitive compensation with retirement & 401k, health & dental insurance, paid sick and vacation time, life insurance and more.

This position has the option to be primarily a work from home position, but candidates MUST be located in the Bemidji Minnesota area to be available to travel to customer’s sites in Northern Minnesota, when required.

We host one of the largest e-sporting events in Minnesota and you have the option to help make it happen. Visit gigazonegaming.com for more about our gaming events.

Who are we?

We are a telephone cooperative that was started in 1952 to provide phone service to homes and farms in northern Minnesota where no one else would provide telephone services.

Over the last 70 years, we have transitioned into a communications cooperative that now provides Voice, Video and Internet services over a fiber to the home network. We recently started to offer speeds of up to 10gb to residential and business customers.

Everyone who has a phone or internet connection with us is a member of our cooperative and they share in our success. Any profit that we make is returned to our membership. Last year we paid out over $4 million to our members.

Our focus is on fantastic customer service using cutting edge technology to improve the quality of life for our members and others in our area.

Our mission statement:

Paul Bunyan Communications is committed to meeting the needs and expectations of our members and other customers by providing quality, innovative communications services.

We commit ourselves to caring, cooperation, and respect in our relations with members, customers, employees and our communities.

We strive to enhance the quality of life in our service area by accepting a leadership role in rural communications and economic development projects.

We operate in the highest tradition of the cooperative philosophy, as stated in our by-laws, while providing for the financial well-being of the Cooperative and its members.
